Looking for an excellent Tutor anyone?
Posted by msterilinn on Apr 29, 2008
When it comes to educating my children, I am always on the lookout for reliable resources to help fulfill our academic needs. Currently I am home-schooling my youngest daughter, yet even I am at times faced with challenges which require me to touch up on a subject matter. Especially with my least favourite subject of English, with all the silly requirements of a subject that truly should be simplified. Luckily I do have a good grasp of this particular subject and am able to keep her moving forward in a good way.
Tutoring may someday become a desirable option I am willing to look into if either of us happen to run into an academic roadblock and get stuck along the way. I do not forsee any major problems cropping up for us, yet I do know of some teens who have dropped out of school simply because they either do not have the confidence to move forward once they fall behind, or they cannot seem to grasp the concept of certain subjects. They are passed on to the next grade anyway, and then they fall even further behind. Eventually this becomes so frustrating that they give up. This may create difficulties later on in life.
Although so far so good for us, as I have totally been up to the challenge, and my curious nature brings a lot of interesting aspects to this home learning experience. Not only are we having lots of fun, while getting smarter, we are both expanding our knowledge of the World in so many different ways. And it is exciting to see that my daughter is leaping way beyond her supposed grade level. A great bonus is knowing that I still have the capacity to learn new things and expand my own horizon as well. This is an experience that I would not trade for anything in the World.
Children are the Heart of our Circle
Posted by msterilinn on Mar 28, 2008
Having a few days of down time has served to give me the opportunity to reflect upon my Path, and my thoughts and feelings surrounding those near and dear to me. We celebrated my daughters birthday, and she is now at that age between. Not quite a small child anymore, yet not quite a young woman. Although we have, and always will have, a very close relationship, I feel a definate shift in the balance. She feels this too, and in many ways she is sad and excited all in one. ‘Tweens find themselves in a confusing place at times, especially during this time of chaos in the World. In one way she wishes to stay a child, so she can just play and not let any of the adult world of stress and responsibilities intrude. Yet in another she feels the pull to do new things, setting aside her treasured childish games, seeking her own style and place in the balance of things. She feels a new sense of Self, and it is so very important to encourage her as she grows in new ways. She tells me she is lucky because I am so young at heart, and I seem to understand her so well. What an honor to feel her trust and respect. We both are very lucky and blessed to share such a strong bond.
Yet when we look around, it is not this way with a lot of children. Although we find many loving families, there are those children that are not held in the center of their Circle. They find themselves drifting along and get caught up in the Chaos. Either their parents or caregivers are too busy, or they themselves are caught up as well. Can they not understand that the most important part of our lives on this Earth are our Families, Friends and Children? Those who journey with us are what gives this Life substance and meaning.
And when my children, grandchildren, and even those other children who feel my Love, look up at me with such Love and Trust in their eyes, it makes the hard things in Life totally worth enduring. To me, there is no greater Joy, and we must always honor this trust and present our best selves in the face of things. The examples we set are meant to guide and teach. Let them be good ones.
There are Circles within Circles, and in the center of all there are the Children.. and they are the Heart of our Circle.

Homeschoolers have the Right to Free Choice!
Posted by msterilinn on Mar 12, 2008
As a homeschooling parent, this really hits home with me. We have the right to choose how, when, and where to educate our children. It is totally appalling to deprive us of our rights as free human beings. I take the teachings I provide or seek for my children quite seriously, and will fight to give them the best education, as all loving parents should. Unless I am causing true harm to my child, no one has the right to take this away from me, or my child. The reason I am bringing up this subject, is a recent development concerning homeschooled children in the State of California.
Let me show you a recent press release..
Reverse The Ruling - Homeschoolers Unite
(PRWEB) March 11, 2008 — Homeschooling activists across the nation are calling to “Reverse the Ruling,” targeting the recent opinion published by California Justice H. Walter Croskey that parents “do not have a constitutional right to homeschool their children.”
On www.ReverseTheRuling.com, education activists have been separating fact from fiction, and schooling the general public on the recent events relating to homeschooling in California, as well as working with homeschoolers all across the nation to gather over 100,000 petition signatures demanding that this ruling be reversed.
“Homeschooling has been a freedom practiced long before the Constitution captured our inalienable rights, with many of the Declaration of Independence signatures coming from men that were homeschooled. Our opinion is quite clear,” said Mimi Rothschild, leader of ReverseTheRuling.com “Parents are responsible to train their children to the very best of their ability and to teach them all they believe to be true. Parents are blessed with children, and obligated to care for all aspects of their children’s lives, including who, what, where and how they are educated.”
Since release yesterday, the ReverseTheRuling.com petition has been inundated with signatures, Ms. Rothschild and other activist are encouraging those that oppose this ruling to be active – signing as many national petitions as possible, gathering information and writing about their experiences on such sites as www.ReverseTheRuling.com

ReverseTheRuling.com is the one-stop source of information for homeschoolers across the nation to learn, spread the word and be heard regarding the recent actions and events that affect homeschoolers throughout the state of California. The Northern Cheyenne have started a grass roots effort within their tribe to build a summer camp (to begin with) and an eventual on-going program for their youth. They have asked us to ask our supporters to help them begin their efforts this spring with the following easy to mail items = SEEDS!!!
The aim of the program is to teach the youth how to return to the SELF-SUSTAINING life of their ancestors and that begins with sowing seeds for their own gardens. The intention is for the gardens to also provide nutritional and nourishing food year-round for the youth and families as well.
What’s needed?? They are requesting seed packets of the following items:
corn
squash (of various kinds)
beans
carrots
raddish
cabbage
lettuce
and other hearty vegetable seeds that can survive cool nights in the mountains and plains.
The camp will be in Lame Deer, Montana and they can also use whatever garden supplies or gift cards to places like Home Depot or WalMart (for building supplies) that anyone feels like sending.

Teddies Nurseries for our little ones and BUPA
Posted by msterilinn on Feb 26, 2008
What is BUPA, one might ask? BUPA is an international health and care company with bases on three continents and more than seven million customers. As a provident association, BUPA does not have shareholders and reinvests its surpluses into improved health and care facilities such as medical equipment, the latest technology and buildings. BUPA is very active in the Community, and all types of runners including elite athletes and wheelchair racers take part in the BUPA Great Run Series of events, the centrepiece of which is the BUPA Great North Run in Newcastle, the world’s largest half-marathon with 50,000 participants from all over the world. With three further Great Runs, in Edinburgh, Manchester and Portsmouth, the events have raised more than £40 million for good causes.
If one were searching for a Child care nursery, it would be interesting to know that Teddies Nurseries was established fifteen years ago to provide high quality professional childcare for children aged three months to five years. Since 2000 Teddies has been part of leading health and care organisation BUPA. They now have 34 nurseries and care for over 3,000 children and babies.
What makes Teddies special? As quoted from their site…
“Nursery care is provided in intimate, homely settings offering a warm, friendly environment for you and your child.
~ Each nursery is carefully designed around the needs of young children to ensure we can provide personal and individualised support for every child in our care
~ Development is carefully nurtured through our innovative SMILE ‘Approach to Learning’ programme encouraging active learning and making learning fun
~ Local nursery staff are supported by an expert central office team enabling them to concentrate on delivering high quality childcare
~ A comprehensive and carefully planned development programme is in place for the nursery team to ensure they are highly motivated and well trained
~ Over 95 percent of parents in our last satisfaction survey agreed that Teddies treated their child as an individual
~ More than 82 percent of parents rated the service they receive from Teddies as either ‘excellent’ or ‘very good’
~ As part of the Teddies Nurseries group and BUPA Childcare, we can provide a unique level of reassurance with quality care, expertise and innovation
~ Our approach to play and learning is based on the National Strategy for Early Education (Foundation Stage Curriculum and Birth to Three Matters)
I would definately look into this further, if the need for a day nursery or child care were to become necessary for my own situation. As always, it is very important to do your research, and check in with other parents as well to get a good idea of what experiences others have had with any prospective child care facility. These are our precious little ones, and nothing but the best will do. Any thoughts or feedback on this subject would be most welcome, so please feel free to comment.
Take a Virtual Tour of Teddies.
The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity…
Posted by msterilinn on Jan 12, 2008
My friend has brought quite a worthy cause to my attention. In 1992, Jurek Owsiak, a well-established performer and the author of an avant-garde TV and radio shows, used his pop-culture status to help under-financed Pediatric Cardio Surgery Division in The Children Memorial Health Institute in Warsaw.
In March of 1992, Jerzy registered the Foundation The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. Jerzy Owsiak, Lidia Niedzwiedzka-Owsiak, Bohdan Maruszewski, and Piotr Burczy?ski have become the members.
In ten years, the Foundation has completed 8 gigantic projects. It has bought the medical equipment needed on the numerous pediatric divisions specializing in: cardio-surgery, neonatal medicine, oncology, post-traumatic surgery, pediatric nephrology, diagnostics, newborns’ surgery, and newborns & children under 5 years old divisions.

Dolphins and Humans.. are we related?
Posted by msterilinn on Oct 18, 2007
My love for Dolphins leads me along a path to discover as much about them as I possibly may. I feel a connection with these graceful creatures, and as I love to swim and feel quite at home in the water, I am not suprised at my fascination with Dolphins. Not only are they equally or more intelligent than humans, we have come to find they have many similar traits as well.
As I was researching about my interest in learning about Dolphin Children, I was happy to discover some very fascinating articles on not only these extraordinary children, yet the Human-Dolphin relationship as well.
I would like to share with you a commentary on Dolphin Children.. Angels of Earth by Paula Peterson. Along with James Twyman’s Psychic Children, Kryon’s Indigo Children, Dr. Richard Boylan’s Star Kids, you may find the number of these gifted children are increasing around the Earth. What can this mean for the human race and evolution as we know it? Are we truly moving into a new era of enlightenment where these special abilities will become commonplace?
If you are interested in learning more from a unique perspective, you may consider visiting Earthcode and reading a commentary on The Dolphin-Human Connection as written by Paula Peterson. I found the connections mentioned here quite remarkable, and can now understand my love of the water and my feelings of being part fish when I am swimming.
It is well known that Dolphins, as well as whales, have telepathic abilities. They are empaths as well, and can communicate quite well by tuning in to our thoughts and feelings. Paula conducted an interview with Joan Ocean, a well known authority on Dolphin and Whale communication, and you may learn more about these mystical and intelligent beings at Voices in the Sea. I believe you will find this an excellent commentary and definately worth your time. Joan Ocean has authored two books “Dolphin Connection” and “Dolphins into the Future”, translated into four languages.
More about Joan Ocean and the Dolphin Connection.
Much healing has come from swimming with Dolphins, and the research into this phenomenon is showing remarkable levels of recovery in children with disablilities. Dohphins connection with the Star Nations and Sirius is definately something I am highly interested in following, as I journey along this Path…
Enjoy!
From the mouth of babes… Tell me Why?
Posted by msterilinn on Aug 16, 2007
When I ran across this video, the song and Declan’s voice, touched my heart and gave me goosebumps. There is not much to say, just listen to the song and it speaks for itself. I would also recommend listening to this young wonders other music, as he truly sings like an Angel and is extemely talented…
Lyrics for “Tell Me Why” by Declan Galbraith
In my dream children sing a song of love for every boy and girl
The sky is blue and fields are green and laughter is the language of the world
Then I wake and all I see is a world full of people in need
Tell me why (why) does it have to be like this?
Tell me why (why) is there something I have missed?
Tell me why (why) cos I don’t understand.
When so many need somebody we don’t give a helping hand.
Tell me why?
Everyday I ask myself what will I have to do to be a man?
Do I have to stand and fight to prove to everybody who I am?
Is that what my life is for to waste in a world full of war?
Tell me why (why) does it have to be like this?
Tell me why (why) is there something I have missed?
Tell me why (why) cos I don’t understand.
When so many need somebody we don’t give a helping hand.
Tell me why?
(children) tell me why? (declan) tell me why?
(children) tell me why? (declan) tell me why?
(together) just tell me why, why, why?
Tell me why (why) does it have to be like this?
Tell me why (why) is there something I have missed?
Tell me why (why) cos I don’t understand.
When so many need somebody we don’t give a helping hand.
Tell me why (why, why, does the tiger run)
Tell me why (why why do we shoot the gun)
Tell me why (why, why do we never learn)
Can someone tell us why we let the forest burn?
(why, why do we say we care)
Tell me why (why, why do we stand and stare)
Tell me why (why, why do the dolphins cry)
Can some one tell us why we let the ocean die ?
(why, why if we’re all the same)
tell me why (why, why do we pass the blame)
tell me why (why, why does it never end)
can some one tell us why we cannot just be friends?
