Sarah Palin champions barbaric killing of Wolves!
Posted by msterilinn on Sep 12, 2008
Defenders of Wildlife is actively getting the word out to voters about Governor Sarah Palin’s barbaric record on killing America’s wildlife, especially her active promotion of the brutal aerial hunting of wolves and bears. We need to educate voters on the urgency of this matter.
As governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin has proposed paying a $150 bounty for the foreleg of each dead wolf. The aerial hunting program she champions has already killed nearly 800 wolves. She’s opposed efforts to save America’s polar bears from extinction. She’s fought against efforts to save some of the world’smost endangered beluga whales.
At nearly every opportunity, Governor Palin has sided with Big Oil, mining companies, wealthy trophy hunters and other entrenched special interests in support of policies that would greatly harm the wild animals we treasure.
Here is the latest news from Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund since they released their hard-hitting video on Palins support for the wolf slaughter last week…
~ Nearly 450,000 potential voters have read our email!
~ More than 68,000 potential voters have viewed the video on YouTube, with many more spread the word by re-posting the video on their websites and blogs and forwarding it to friends.
~ CNN and other news outlets have picked up the story, running clips from Defenders of Wildlife Action fund and our sister organization Defenders of Wildlife.
Here is the brutal video as seen on YouTube. Please be aware this video is quite disturbing and may not be suitable for all audiences, so use your own good judgement…
To reach hundreds of thousands of swing voters who will help decide this election, we’ve created a powerful new television spot detailing Governor Palin’s efforts to kill wolves and bears. But we can only run it with your financial help today.
Running a television ad during an election year is expensive. We need to raise $100,000 by September 17th in order to run this ad and support the work to provide a voice for endangered wildlife. Let’s make a stand and get the truth out about Sarah Palin and her unjust views of the natural world. Do we really want to allow this woman a high place in our goverment where the damage created can be much worse? Please help spread the word!!
Fighting for those living with Alzheimer’s Disease
Posted by msterilinn on Jul 21, 2008
We are all connected in our walks through this Life, either directly or undirectly. Therefor, we must do what we can to help our fellow humans, as we strive to preserve the natural world. I firmly believe that which causes dis-ease among people and animals are related to the health of the Earth and our environment. If we look to nature for our personal care products and nutritional supplements, as well as steering away from items made from substances proven dangerous to our health, we can live long healthy lives free from dis-ease.
Today I would like to make mention of a dis-ease which has touched several of my friends and their families. As many as 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s destroys brain cells, causing problems with memory, thinking and behavior severe enough to affect work, lifelong hobbies or social life. Alzheimer’s gets worse over time, and it is fatal. Today it is the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. It is the most common form of dementia, a general term for the loss of memory and other intellectual abilities serious enough to interfere with daily life. Vascular dementia, another common type of dementia, is caused by reduced blood flow to parts of the brain. In mixed dementia, Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia occur together.
The Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk® is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research – and it calls on volunteers of all ages to become champions in the fight against Alzheimer’s. There are walks in more than 600 communities. A typical Memory Walk is a 2-3 mile walk held on a weekend morning in the fall.
Alzheimer’s Memory Walk is a great way to get involved and show your support for those you love, and people you know who are affected by this devastating dis-ease. By teaming up with the Alzheimer’s Association, you can walk with a purpose – and move us closer to a world without Alzheimer’s. Together, we can MOVE a nation. Please consider forming or joining a team today!
The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity…
Posted by msterilinn on Jan 12, 2008
My friend has brought quite a worthy cause to my attention. In 1992, Jurek Owsiak, a well-established performer and the author of an avant-garde TV and radio shows, used his pop-culture status to help under-financed Pediatric Cardio Surgery Division in The Children Memorial Health Institute in Warsaw.
In March of 1992, Jerzy registered the Foundation The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. Jerzy Owsiak, Lidia Niedzwiedzka-Owsiak, Bohdan Maruszewski, and Piotr Burczy?ski have become the members.
In ten years, the Foundation has completed 8 gigantic projects. It has bought the medical equipment needed on the numerous pediatric divisions specializing in: cardio-surgery, neonatal medicine, oncology, post-traumatic surgery, pediatric nephrology, diagnostics, newborns’ surgery, and newborns & children under 5 years old divisions.
