This is a question we should all ask ourselves. As I get older, I am becoming more aware of the importance of maintaining a healthy heart. When I was younger, although I have always treated my body well, I just didn’t think about it so much. A little over a year ago I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. Although through Nature and diligent care, my blood pressure is normal again, for a while there I was quite concerned as it was extremely high. This really got me thinking and doing some serious research on my own.

Heart Attack Risk

Lets take a look at some risk factors. A risk factor is any predisposition or behavior that increases an individual’s chances for having a medical condition. In some cases, Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA), can occur spontaneously without any known risk factors associated with its onset.

Some risk factors are manageable.

For example:

* Stress
* High blood pressure
* High cholesterol
* Cigarette smoking
* Excess weight
* Drug or alcohol abuse
* High fat diet
* Sedentary lifestyle

If you feel that you or someone you know may be at risk, please take a few moments to visit InsideCardiacArrest.com to learn more. Let’s educate ourselves on this subject. This is so very important, and we deserve to live long, healthy lives with strong hearts to carry us along.

Okay, now this is pretty serious. Although I am totally against creating products that are dangerous for our health and the environment, I truly believe we must dispose of the containers we are stuck with using in the proper way. And recycling is so very important! People may think “Oh, it is just one little container… it can’t possible cause too much harm”. Wrong! If everybody says that even once, and follows through without recycling, imagine the millions of non-biodegradable objects filling our landfills, or polluting our paths and highways? Where does it end, and how can we stop those littering all over our beautiful Earth?

HDPE (short for High Density Polyethylene) is a commonly used plastic which can be recycled. “HDPE Scrap” is the collected material which is then sold to be recycled.

Recycling HDPE products, especially post consumer products such as shampoo bottles, detergent bottles, fabric softener bottles, and milk bottles saves tonnes of landfill space every year. It is still lamentably true however, that much of the HDPE products produced in North America will not be turned over for recycling, and will find their way into landfills, exacerbating the environmental problems that the USA, much like many other countries, faces on a day to day basis.

It is not only traditional manufacturers who seek to use scrap HDPE in their products either. Environmentalists, and green companies are also turning to scrap HDPE as a source of raw material.

If you do not already have a recycling program in effect in your community, perhaps you can get together with folks and create a way to gather these plastics, as it appears there is a demanding market and a great need for recycled materials. This is an economic as well as environmentally wise path to a greener, cleaner Earth.

Visit Raw Polymers LTD to learn more about finding a market for our recycled plastics.

Having a few days of down time has served to give me the opportunity to reflect upon my Path, and my thoughts and feelings surrounding those near and dear to me. We celebrated my daughters birthday, and she is now at that age between. Not quite a small child anymore, yet not quite a young woman. Although we have, and always will have, a very close relationship, I feel a definate shift in the balance. She feels this too, and in many ways she is sad and excited all in one. ‘Tweens find themselves in a confusing place at times, especially during this time of chaos in the World. In one way she wishes to stay a child, so she can just play and not let any of the adult world of stress and responsibilities intrude. Yet in another she feels the pull to do new things, setting aside her treasured childish games, seeking her own style and place in the balance of things. She feels a new sense of Self, and it is so very important to encourage her as she grows in new ways. She tells me she is lucky because I am so young at heart, and I seem to understand her so well. What an honor to feel her trust and respect. We both are very lucky and blessed to share such a strong bond.

 Yet when we look around, it is not this way with a lot of children. Although we find many loving families, there are those children that are not held in the center of their Circle. They find themselves drifting along and get caught up in the Chaos. Either their parents or caregivers are too busy, or they themselves are caught up as well. Can they not understand that the most important part of our lives on this Earth are our Families, Friends and Children? Those who journey with us are what gives this Life substance and meaning.

And when my children, grandchildren, and even those other children who feel my Love, look up at me with such Love and Trust in their eyes, it makes the hard things in Life totally worth enduring. To me, there is no greater Joy, and we must always honor this trust and present our best selves in the face of things. The examples we set are meant to guide and teach. Let them be good ones.

There are Circles within Circles, and in the center of all there are the Children.. and they are the Heart of our Circle.

As a woman, I have found so many places that focus on our natural skin care. Some of these places offer a small selection of products for the males in our lives, almost as an afterthought. Yet is is rare that we find a place that has a focus solely on men’s skin care. I am not entirely certain why this is, and I suppose it never truly struck me until this moment how totally unfair to the masculine population this neglect is. I believe the males in my life would very much appreciate a greater selection and choice when it comes to caring for themselves in a good way. Trust me when I say this is something I am going to investigate further, and see for myself how my male friends and family feel about this. Our men deserve to be pampered and cared for just as much as women do, whether they will admit to it or not!

I would like to share a great place to start with a line of men’s skin care that left me a bit impressed to say the least. From shaving gels, creams and balms, to an absolutely delicious array of shampoos, conditioners and body essentials, with some wonderful natural ingredients designed to create an excellent array of choices for all types of male preferences… Anthony Logistics for Men is definately worth looking into.

Not only will you find some of natures finest ingredients, you will also find that a percentage of Anthony For Men proceeds is donated to charities in support of the fight against prostate cancer. One in six men are diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in America, and is the most common non-skin cancer in America, with a new case diagnosed every three minutes. Every day, 101 men lose their lives to this disease. In the last decade alone, 350,000 men have died of prostate cancer. About an equal number of deaths were caused by Breast Cancer and this number represents more than three times the number of deaths from AIDS).

Well then, I am certainly willing to add Anthony’s to my list of favourites and let people know what I think of a line of products with the male population in mind. Any thoughts and/or comments on this are most welcome!

Spiderwick ChroniclesToday I just have to give a glimpse into a personal adventure, in which is shared by my daughter and myself. We just so happened to read the Spiderwick Chronicles together a little over a year ago. At the time, we had just discovered a new trail by the Clackamas river, and we took turns reading out loud after finding an absolutely lovely tree filled and flower strewn spot perfect for such adventurous imaginings. We both absolutely love tales involving the world of Faerie, and this particular tale fit perfectly into our adventurous natures.

The reason I mention this today, is that we celebrated my little Stars birthday with our annual tradition of hitting the movie theatre, with a glimpse into the Spiderwick Chronicles. And we were not disappointed! From the ancient and mysterious old house, to the resident house Brownie named Thimbletack (who, incidentally, turns into a nasty old Boggart when upset, so beware of misusing this little creature), this fun little movie draws one right into the intrigue and mysteries of the invisible world of Faerie. We were especially impressed with the giant Ogre named Mulgrath who, by the way, experiences quite a fitting ending.

Alas, this enchanting story shall always hold a special place in the hearts of both my daughter and myself, and we highly recommend it to those adventurous souls who love the world of Faerie as much as we do. With Goblins, Trolls, Elves, Sylphs, Fairies, and even an unlikely ally in the form of a flying Gryphon, and so much more. I have no wish to give away any secrets, so I will just leave it up to any visitors to enter the mysterious realms of the Spiderwick Chronicles at your own risk.

Enjoy!

Above all else, I am into Family. My entire family is quite secure in the knowledge of my Love and devotion to all things connecting us during our lives here on Earth. I am totally into creativity and personalization when it comes to just about everything, for any occasion or just because, including gifts, cards, calendars… you name it. I always prefer adding a personal touch, as this truly shows my Love, and how important my family and friends are by the mere fact of taking the time to create something special. I am never too busy to give special thought to giving my loved ones, and even those whom I do not know very well, gifts that are truly given from my heart.

Personalized Photo CardsAlong with these lovely homemade gifts, the perfect form of personalization are Photo Greeting Cards. My particular favourite is the borderless full color photo card as can be created through CardsDirect. These premium folded photo cards are printed on thick 140 pound (14pt) white card stock using state of the art digital color press technology. Upload or email us your high resolution digital photo, and we will print it on the front of the cards in stunning digital full color. Inside the photo cards, you can add one of our verses plus your personalized text, or create your own custom verse a choice of typestyles and ink colors at no additional cost. You will receive an electronic proof via email showing you exactly how your cards will look before your photo card order is printed. Lined envelopes are included and can also be custom imprinted with your return address.

Please take a few moments to read this very important message…

The Bush administration wants to sacrifice some of the wildest regions of Colorado, Utah and Wyoming to produce fuel from two of the most polluting sources: oil shale and tar sands.

This proposed development — spanning an area of more than two million acres of wildlife habitat and outstanding recreation areas across three states — could pollute air and water, jeopardize human health and dramatically worsen global warming.

Please go to http://www.savebiogems.org/yellowstone/takeaction and tell the Bush administration to protect these sensitive wildlands for future generations and promote cleaner sources of energy instead.

Oil shale is rock that produces oil when heated to extreme temperatures. Tar sands contain extremely heavy oil mixed with sand and clay. Tar sands development in Canada has displaced wildlife, created toxic waste sites that go on for miles and generated three times the amount of global warming pollution per barrel produced as conventional fuel.

We must act now to shield our own western wildlands from thisnightmare scenario. Oil shale and tar sands development could release dangerous toxic elements such as arsenic, selenium, and boron into the Colorado River watershed — a vital source of drinking water for local communities.

This area is also home to mule deer, elk, mountain lions, black bears, bald eagles and great horned owls and offers exceptional outdoor recreation opportunities.

Go to http://www.savebiogems.org/yellowstone/takeaction and tell the Bush administration to put the brakes on dirty oil shale and tar sands development in America’s West.

Thank you for helping to save our last western wildlife habitats from destructive development.

I have a very important message to pass along. I would strongly urge you to pay close attention, and also encourage you to check those labels! Educate yourself on what is in the products you allow your family and loved ones to use on a daily basis.

CONSUMER ALERT:

CANCER-CAUSING INGREDIENT FOUND IN LEADING “ORGANIC” & “NATURAL” PERSONAL CARE PRODCUTS

A newly released study commissioned by the Organic Consumers Association (OCA) and overseen by environmental health consumer advocate David Steinman (author of The Safe Shopper’s Bible), revealed the presence of the undisclosed carcinogenic contaminant 1,4-Dioxane in leading shampoos, body washes, lotions and other personal care and household cleaning products claiming to be “natural” or “organic”. The study results, to be released this weekend at the Natural Products Expo in California, are already sending shockwaves through the “organic” and “natural” body care industry.

Laboratory tests showed that products certified under the USDA National Organic Program DID NOT contain this toxin, but most of the best selling personal care products claiming to be “organic” (but not USDA certified) contained the cancer-causing ingredient.

All leading self-proclaimed “organic” brands have at least a few individual “certified organic” ingredients, but for most of these top-selling brands, the product, as a whole, is not USDA organic certified, thereby allowing the presence of synthetic toxins. Similar studies have revealed the presence of this toxin in conventional personal care products, but this is the first study indicating the presence in misleadingly labeled “organic” and “natural” products.
